A computer has become an integral part of every person's life. It has become more of a necessity than a luxury. We cannot imagine that there was a time when computers were unheard of, and the evolution and history of computers can give you an insight as to how this most innovative and helpful tool was integrated into our lives. |
Though many would say that Charles Babbage invented the computer, the truth is that there are many who were involved in the inventions and have contributed to the growth of the computer to what it is now.
The first computer (Z1) has been believed to have been developed in the year 1936 by Konrad Zuse and this was the very first of its kind that could be completely programmed. Although there were many devices before the Z1, there was no other that could be programmed and set the Z1 apart from the other electronic devices. The business aspect of computers and commercialization took place only by 1942 and the very first computers company called ABC Computers was operated and owned by two brothers.
Computer users have many uses for the computer, which has evolved from being just an electronic device to a man's best friend, and the invention of the Internet in 1969 only strengthened its uses even further. The year 1979 was important for those who used computers from home since this was the year when word processing programs were sold publicly. From then there is no looking back and computers have been evolving on a regular basis and has found its way into almost every one's homes.
