Computer Network Security History
With increase in the usage of Internet, computer security has become an important issue. Companies and individuals want to learn more about computer network security. In fact, many companies have computer network security as a top priority to stop any misuse or fraud. |
As a company, in order to tackle the issue of computer crimes, it is necessary to have a clear cut security policy along with measures that are effective enough to handle the menace. The same also applies to individuals.
However, it has been seen in companies that the policy to tackle computer network security and the actual measures taken are quite different. There seems to be a gap between the policy and measures, wherein new systems that are added to the network are invariably forgotten.
To bridge the gap between Internet security policy and measures adopted, it is necessary to first understand the sources of risk. The sources can be external or internal. External risk source refers to a hacker who breaks into the computer system to either gain financially or to launch an attack on other computers on the same network. External threats are quite real and companies can even be targets of industrial espionage through these sources.
Internal sources of risks are invariably employees or contract workers who have access to the systems. These sources have the potential to wreak havoc either knowingly or unknowingly. These individuals if smart and computer savvy can delete the computer history and if the measures adopted by the company or organization are not efficient, it will never come out. Or if it does not come out, it will be too late as the damage is already done.
Therefore, it is necessary to view the computer network history and remove any vulnerability that might exist. Evaluating security should be a priority so that no loopholes can be exploited
