Computer Security And Reliability Testing Standard
With the advent and growth of Internet, we have also seen an increase computer crimes and frauds. This has led to an increase computer security and reliability measures as these two pose a major threat in today's world. |
However, in order to increase computer security and reliability, it is necessary to understand each aspect separately. When computer security is taken into consideration, we are referring to vulnerabilities that might exist in the system which a hacker might take advantage of to access the computer. Reliability refers to various issues in the applications and technologies used to make the computer function in better manner.
This has led to designers and users coming together to form certain accepted computer security and reliability testing standards that used the world over. In the US, government organization and quasi-government organizations follow the Government Auditing Standards, which is also referred to as the Yellow Book. These standards mentioned in the Yellow Book have to be followed not just by the organizations but also by any contractor, non-government organization or nonprofit organization dealing with government. There are certain standards prescribed in the book for auditing and also cover computers and information technology.
However, the most widely used computer security and reliability testing standard is developed by IEEE, which is an organization for developing international standards. The standards mentioned by IEEE are the one used internationally covers anything and everything related to computer security and reliability testing. The IEEE computer security and reliability testing standard also covers the standard for wireless networking.
