Many computer users think that just by running an ordinary scan they can remove all the viruses from their computer. However, there are steps to remove virus from computer. Only if you follow the steps can you be sure that all the infections have been removed from your system.

The steps to remove virus from computer are listed below:

Step I:
The first step involves making sure that you have a virus infection. This means checking your computer for any signs that are not normal. Usually the first signs of having a virus infection are demonstrated by the computer running slowly, taking you to web pages that you did not ask for or pop ups appearing even when you are not connected to the Internet.

Step II:
Run your anti-virus program. Make sure that it scans each and every file on your system and registry. Here you should take care. Because there are certain viruses that many anti-virus programs are not able to detect. Ensure that you use a good and recommended anti-virus program.

Step III:
Windows has function that can restore your system to a previous date. If this is done, the virus can reappear even though you eliminated it from your computer. What you need to do now is to disable the System Restore function my going into My Computer and disabling it for all drives.

Step IV:
Then download a new anti-virus program, namely AVG or Avast. Both these anti-virus programs are free and come highly recommended.

Step V:
Reboot your computer on Safe Mode and then start scanning your computer. If the anti-virus finds any virus infection at this point still, it will delete it.

Step VI:
Switch off your system once the scan finishes and reboot it normally. Once again enable the System Restore function.
