What Does The Computer Hard Disk Do ?
The hard disk is an important part of the computer. It stores all the software, programs, files and folders. It divides the data into basic drives like C Drive and other back up drives. The C Drive usually contains all the software like Windows, Microsoft Office and other programs that you need to run the computer. The programs provide an interface between the user and the computer, and in order to have this interface, you will need a hard disk. The interface is nothing but data and the hard disk does the basic job of storing the data for you. |
The C Drive usually contains various types of program files which are helpful for you to run your everyday needs on your computer. Even the internet browser and various other supporting files are stored on the hard drive. The hard disk does not have a memory and the memory comes from something called the RAM or the random access memory.
So, when you click on some file you wish to open, the hard disk accesses the memory and then accesses the data stored on it before it opens it. All this happens in fractions of seconds. The hard disk is divided into tracks and sectors. It has a unique way of storing these files in these track and sectors. It is possible to rewrite the data repeatedly on a hard disk drive. Program files, back up, and user friendly files are stored in various portions of the hard disk drive.
