Help Connecting My Wireless Ibm Thinkpad To Cable Modem
The IBM ThinkPad is a standard sized notebook computer actually. It can also be categorized as a laptop and IBM just needed an innovative name so they called it ThinkPad. The IBM ThinkPad can be easily connected to the internet using a cable modem and using an Ethernet cable. |
However, the laptop is all about convenience and you should be able to carry it where ever you want and connecting it through a cable modem completely defeats the purpose of it. You should rather choose to use the wireless capability of the computer and connect to wireless networks. In order to connect, you will need a wireless router and an Ethernet cable.
The cable modem has to be connected to the wireless router, and the Ethernet cable should be connected from the modem to the router. The ThinkPad will connect to the router and get the data from the modem. In order to be able to use the whole contraption, you should install the router and the modem drivers on your computer. Once your telephone line is connected to the modem and the Ethernet cable connection is established between the routers and modem, you can easily access the internet from any part of your house. In case you want a direct connection, then you can use a secondary internet cable that runs between the routers and connect it to your computer. Every wireless router comes with at least three to four jacks for cables to be connected. Whenever you want to use the wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable and the wireless will be active.
