How To Install A Adsl Modem ?
ADSL stands for Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line. There is another variation known as the DLS, which is more common. The ADSL modem is required for advanced connections and higher internet capabilities. Every modem comes with a CD that has drivers and software required to run it. So you will need to install the modem by using this software. |
Connect the modem to the CPU and wait for a few seconds. In common cases, the computer detects the new hardware attached to the computer on its own, and asks you if it should install it. Then it might ask you for a CD drive with the software drivers needed at which time you need to insert the disk. However, in case your computer does not identify the modem, you can go to Add and Remove Hardware in the Control Panel and select the ADSL modem from there. In case your computer does not have a common version for the driver, you will still need to install it from the disk. It is also recommended that you store a back up of these drivers somewhere on your computer. In case the disk gets corrupted, then you can always use this back up version. After successfully installing the modem, your computer will ask to restart and you need to do it, so that the modem starts working.
Remember, that you have to also connect your telephone line to the ADSL port present on the broadband modem. And then connect the modem to using the Ethernet cable to your computer.
ADSL modem is not used commonly and today, people use DSL modems. DSL modems give the benefit of being connected to the internet 24 hours a day.
