History Of Mother Boards
Motherboard started when the computer age began. The first motherboard was made back in 1924 and it had very limited capabilities. Ever since, they have come a long way. One of the first companies to make a motherboard is IBM as we know of it today. |
Here is a brief timeline of the motherboard and its transition to what it is today.
1924
The Tabulating computing machines was renamed as IBM.
1939
Hewlett Packard was found and even they started making motherboards.
1947
One of the first transistors was invented.
1967
IBM is responsible for creating the first floppy disk.
1968
Intel which made the best processors was founded.
1969
AMD came into the motherboard market and took over literally. Even today the AMD motherboards are the popular choice. AT&T Bell Laboratories started developing UNIX.
.
1970
Intel released its first microprocessor with advanced capabilities. They also introduced the Random access memory or the RAM
1972
The first CD was made.
After the CD was invented, a lot more advanced options started opening up. Intel started making better processors and every year they introduced an advanced version. As the processor was being improved, other components of the motherboard like the RAM and video cards, sound cards, game controllers started becoming more and more efficient. So the development of the motherboard was all interlinked. One led to the advancement of the other. Today, the Core2Duo processor has several advanced series and is one of the most advanced forms of processor one can find in the market. It is made by Intel Corp. It is incorporated into the motherboard by AMD and together they make the best combination with advanced usage facilities.
